For Parents: The Role of Research in Current Care Decision-making
As parents faced with a Trisomy 18 diagnosis for their child, one of the hardest things to do is choose how to best care for their child. Many times the doctor provides basic information about the options, but little detail, and so the parents set out to search the current medical research on their own. However, most parents aren't familiar with medical vocabulary and research methods and may end up more confused and very frustrated.
We plan to develop a guide for parents to help them sort through the research more effectively so they can make decisions with more confidence. Some of the areas we will cover:
- How to Research in the Medical Literature
- How to "interpret" Current Medical Literature
- Key Treatment Areas affected by Research
